FREE M1 Motorcycle Practice Test 3 (Ontario) 2026

  • Based on official 2026 Motorcycle Handbook
  • Updated for May 2026
  • Perfect for M1 licence and full M rider’s licence
  • Triple-checked for accuracy
Thanks for stopping by to take our third M1 practice test! We designed this practice test to help you pass the official Ontario M1 knowledge test on your first attempt.

The official M1 knowledge test consists of 64 multiple-choice questions in three sections: 20 questions on road signs, 20 questions on rules of the road, and 24 questions on motorcycle riding specifically. The road rules section of the official M1 knowledge test covers traffic laws and regulations and right-of-way rules. The motorcycle-specific section covers safe motorcycle riding practices, including motorcycle helmets and group riding. All questions are based on the latest versions of the Official Ontario Ministry of Transportation (MTO) Driver’s Handbook (for road signs and rules of the road) and the Official Ontario Ministry of Transportation (MTO) Motorcycle Handbook (for motorcycle-specific topics).

This M1 practice test features questions on traffic signals, pavement markings, general rules of the road, and motorcycle-specific topics. It’s up to date as of May 2026 and has 40 questions, all based on the official MTO handbooks.

Passing the M1 knowledge test is a crucial requirement for obtaining an M1 licence. You can take the M1 test at any DriveTest centre. The other requirements for an M1 license are being at least 16 years old; providing documentation of your identity, date of birth, and residency in Ontario; paying the Class M1 licence package fee; and passing a vision test. The M1 licence package fee covers your M1 knowledge test, your Class M2 road test (to earn your M2 licence), and a 90-day Class M2 licence.

Your M1 licence will allow you to practise motorcycle riding under certain restrictions: no passengers, no riding at night, and no riding on most roads with speed limits over 80 km/h.

You must hold your M1 licence for at least 60 days (but it expires in 90 days). After that, you can take your first road test for an M2 licence. The M2 road test covers basic riding. You can take the M2 road test either at a DriveTest centre or as part of a motorcycle safety course you’re enrolled in. If you take the road test in a motorcycle safety course, you can reduce your minimum time at Level M2 by four months.

Ontario M1 safety rules to review

This set is strongest when you connect the rule to the riding condition.

Traction changes fast on two wheels

Road surface questions usually ask for a smoother, slower and more deliberate response.

Visibility is part of right-of-way

A rider may be legally correct and still need to choose the answer that avoids not being seen.

Speed should match conditions

The safest speed may be well below the posted limit when traction or visibility is poor.

How to use M1 Test 3

Use it as a final topic check before motorcycle exam-mode practice.

1
Review surface hazards first
A single traction topic can create several different-looking missed questions.
2
Check road-sharing assumptions
Look for answers that improve visibility and space instead of asserting right-of-way.
3
Use exam mode after stable scores
Move to a mixed M1 session once these topic misses stop repeating.
